Freedom Wars Remastered Gameplay Showcase Revealed!
Freedom Wars Remastered: Enhanced Gameplay and New Features Revealed
A new trailer for Freedom Wars Remastered showcases the game's revamped gameplay and control systems, along with significant enhancements. This action RPG, set in a dystopian world, tasks players with battling massive mechanical creatures known as Abductors, harvesting resources, upgrading equipment, and completing various missions. The remastered version launches January 10th for PS4, PS5, Switch, and PC.
The game's origins lie in a response to Sony's loss of exclusivity for the Monster Hunter series. Capcom's decision to bring Monster Hunter to Nintendo consoles prompted Sony to develop Freedom Wars for the PS Vita. While the futuristic setting differs, the core gameplay loop remains strikingly similar: players engage in intense battles against Abductors, collect materials, and upgrade their gear for improved combat effectiveness.
The recently released trailer provides a detailed look at the gameplay. It introduces the protagonist, a "Sinner" convicted simply for being born, in a world depleted of resources. The Sinner's sentence involves undertaking missions for their Panopticon, a city-state, ranging from rescuing civilians and eliminating Abductors to securing control points. These missions can be tackled solo or cooperatively online.
Enhanced Gameplay and Visuals in Freedom Wars Remastered:
The trailer highlights key improvements in Freedom Wars Remastered. Visually, the game receives a substantial upgrade, boasting 4K resolution (2160p) at 60 FPS on PS5 and PC. PS4 players can expect 1080p at 60 FPS, while the Switch version runs at 1080p but at 30 FPS. Gameplay is faster-paced than the original, thanks to refined mechanics, increased movement speed, and the ability to cancel weapon attacks.
Crafting and upgrading have been streamlined with more intuitive interfaces and the addition of attachable/detachable modules. A new module synthesis feature allows players to enhance modules using resources gained from rescuing citizens. Finally, a challenging "Deadly Sinner" difficulty mode caters to veteran players, and all original customization DLC from the PS Vita version is included from the outset.
