LEGO CEO Niels Christiansen has announced ambitious plans to significantly expand the company's digital footprint, venturing into the world of video game development. This expansion will involve both independent game creation and strategic partnerships.

“We are confident that, as long as we operate under the LEGO brand, we aim to create experiences for children of all ages across both digital and physical platforms. Developing games internally is something we are actively pursuing,” stated Christiansen.

This strategic move doesn't signal an end to LEGO's successful history of licensing its brand to third-party developers. Recent reports indicate TT Games, renowned for its popular LEGO-themed games, is currently developing a new title, likely based on a Warner Bros. franchise.

LEGO's most prominent foray into gaming to date is its collaboration with Epic Games. Last year's hugely successful LEGO-themed mode in Fortnite quickly became a fan favorite, demonstrating the strong appeal of LEGO in the digital gaming space.

The company also enjoys a long-standing relationship with TT Games, resulting in a hugely popular series of adventure games spanning two decades. While new projects from TT Games have been less publicized recently, rumors suggest a new LEGO Harry Potter game is in development, potentially capitalizing on the success of the commercially acclaimed LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga.

Further showcasing LEGO's diverse gaming strategy, a partnership with 2K Games led to the release of LEGO 2K Drive, a racing game launched last year, which broadened the brand's reach within the gaming industry.
