Blizzard Fails to Extend Diablo 3 Event

Diablo 3's traditional "Fall of Tristram" event, cherished by many fans, is set to conclude on February 1. Despite requests from the community to extend the event, Blizzard's community manager, pezradar, has confirmed that extending it is currently impossible due to the event being hard-coded into the game, making server-side adjustments unfeasible.

In related news, pezradar addressed the delay of Diablo 3's Season 34, expressing regret over the situation. The delay, announced just 24 hours prior, was necessary to allow the development team time to craft new code for a seamless transition between seasons. This follows issues with the automatic scheduler that prematurely ended the previous season. The extra time is being used to test the new code and ensure a smooth transfer of player progress. Pezradar acknowledged the need for better communication with players in the future, indicating that the team is taking steps to improve in this area.

Meanwhile, Wolcen Studio has announced Project Pantheon, an innovative free-to-play combat role-playing game that incorporates extraction shooter mechanics. The game aims to merge the intense, risk-reward gameplay of extraction shooters with the engaging battle dynamics of combat RPGs. Project Pantheon's first closed alpha test began on January 25 for European players, with North American players joining on February 1. Andrei Cirkulete, the game director, highlighted the unique blend of gameplay elements, drawing inspiration from titles like Diablo and Escape from Tarkov. In Project Pantheon, players assume the role of a Death's messenger, tasked with restoring order to a devastated world.
