Infinity Nikki Snapped Up Devs from BotW and The Witcher 3
Infinity Nikki: A Behind-the-Scenes Look at the Breathtaking Open World
A new behind-the-scenes documentary reveals the extensive development journey of Infinity Nikki, the highly anticipated fashion-focused open-world game launching December 4th (EST/PST) on PC, PlayStation, and mobile. This 25-minute video showcases the dedication and passion of the development team, featuring interviews with key members.
The project began in December 2019, born from the Nikki series producer's vision of Nikki exploring a vast, open world. Secrecy surrounded the initial stages, with a separate office used to maintain confidentiality. The team spent over a year laying the groundwork and building the game's infrastructure.
Game designer Sha Dingyu highlights the unprecedented challenge of integrating the established Nikki dress-up mechanics into an open-world setting. This required creating a completely new framework, a process built step-by-step after extensive research.
The team's commitment to pushing boundaries is evident. While the Nikki franchise has a history of successful mobile titles (starting with NikkiUp2U in 2012), Infinity Nikki represents a significant leap forward. The decision to release on PC and console, alongside mobile, demonstrates a dedication to technological advancement and the evolution of the Nikki IP. The producer's clay model of the Grand Millewish Tree serves as a powerful symbol of this passion.
The documentary offers glimpses into the vibrant world of Miraland, focusing on the majestic Grand Millewish Tree and its playful Faewish Sprites. The lively NPCs, with their independent routines, contribute to the immersive and realistic atmosphere. Game designer Xiao Li emphasizes the NPCs' dynamic behavior, even during active missions, as a key design highlight.
A World-Class Team
The game's stunning visuals are a testament to the talent behind it. In addition to the core Nikki team, Infinity Nikki boasts internationally renowned developers. Kentaro “Tomiken” Tominaga, Lead Sub Director, brings his experience from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, while concept artist Andrzej Dybowski contributes his expertise from The Witcher 3.
From its official start on December 28th, 2019, to its December 4th, 2024 launch, the team dedicated over 1814 days to bringing Infinity Nikki to life. Join Nikki and Momo this December for an unforgettable adventure in Miraland!
