Star Wars Celebration Confirms Oscar Isaac Appearance, Sparking Rumors of His Return to the Galaxy Far, Far Away

Oscar Isaac's appearance at Star Wars Celebration 2025 in Tokyo (April 18-20) has ignited speculation about Poe Dameron's return to the galaxy far, far away. The official Star Wars Celebration Instagram account announced his presence, prompting comparisons to Daisy Ridley's 2023 appearance, where she announced her involvement in a new film.

Following the conclusion of the Sequel Trilogy in 2019, Isaac's stance on returning to the franchise has evolved. Initially expressing reluctance unless financially motivated, he later expressed openness to future projects. He has, however, been vocal about his disappointment with Disney's rejection of his proposed romance between Poe and Finn. John Boyega, who shared similar negative experiences, has also hinted at a potential return.

This fuels speculation about a reunion of the Sequel Trilogy's main trio—Isaac, Ridley, and Boyega—in the upcoming Rey film, set approximately 15 years after The Rise of Skywalker. Ridley has already expressed her desire for Boyega's return, making Poe's inclusion a logical next step. While Star Wars Celebration 2025 might offer clues, fans face a longer wait due to Disney's repeated delays of upcoming Star Wars films. The Rey film, directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, currently has a tentative release date of December 17, 2027.
