Fans eagerly awaiting the release of "Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse" will need to exercise patience, as star Jharrel Jerome has confirmed that production hasn't even begun yet. In a recent interview with Decider, Jerome shared that while many aspects of the film are still "being figured out," the anticipation for the third installment remains high. The second film, "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse," released in 2023, came five years after the first film, setting a precedent for a longer wait between sequels.

"No, I wish," Jerome remarked when asked about the start of production. "We haven’t started up yet. A lot of things being figured out, but good things." This statement dashed hopes for an imminent release, as fans were hoping to see the continuation of the story sooner rather than later.

Jerome, who had a smaller role in "Across the Spider-Verse," is set to take on a more significant role in the upcoming film. ***Spoiler warning for Across the Spider-Verse's finale***: Jerome will portray Miles G. Morales from Earth-42, a version of Miles who, unlike the protagonist, did not become Spider-Man but instead became the Prowler. In this alternate universe, the radioactive spider meant for Miles G. Morales bit the main Miles Morales instead, altering the course of their lives. Consequently, after the death of his universe's Peter Parker, Miles G. Morales' New York fell under the control of supervillains, leading him to join their ranks.

The narrative of how these two versions of Miles Morales will interact and conflict is expected to be a central theme in "Beyond the Spider-Verse." However, fans will need to wait until at least 2026 for the film's release, according to Deadline. If the release pattern follows that of the previous film, it might not be until 2028 that audiences get to see the culmination of this epic saga.
