GOG Revives Dino Crisis 1 and 2 for PC
The beloved survival horror classics, Dino Crisis and Dino Crisis 2, have roared back to life with re-releases on PC through GOG. These cult favorites, originally launched on PlayStation, are now available DRM-free on the CD Projekt-owned platform, preserving their original content through GOG's Preservation Program.
Capcom first introduced Dino Crisis to the world on the original PlayStation in 1999, followed by Dino Crisis 2 in 2000. The series saw a third installment, Dino Crisis 3, exclusively on the original Xbox in 2003, but fans have been left without a new entry since. Despite the community's clamor for a new game or an HD remake, Capcom has shown little interest. The announcement of Exoprimal in 2022, a multiplayer action game with dinosaurs, was perceived by many as the final blow to hopes for a Dino Crisis revival. Additionally, Shinji Mikami, the creator of Dino Crisis, noted last August that the success of Capcom's Monster Hunter series leaves little space for a reboot or remake of the beloved PlayStation title.
Previously, PC ports of the first two Dino Crisis games were hard to come by and challenging to run on modern systems. GOG's efforts to re-release these games are thus warmly welcomed by the gaming community.
GOG proudly states, "Thanks to the tremendous efforts of Capcom and GOG, Regina's iconic line, 'You're extinct!' no longer applies to the game itself. The timeless thriller that defined a generation of gamers is made to last forever, enhanced for today's systems, featuring all the original content you loved with numerous improvements."
