PS5 Pro Might Be Coming In Late 2024, Gamescom Devs Reveal
Gamescom 2024 Whispers of a PlayStation 5 Pro Launch
The gaming world is abuzz with speculation following Gamescom 2024, where hints about the PlayStation 5 Pro's imminent arrival have surfaced. Developers and journalists alike are discussing the console's potential specifications and release timeline. Let's delve into the details.
Gamescom 2024: PS5 Pro Dominates the Conversation
Rumors of a PS5 Pro have been circulating throughout 2024, fueled by leaks. However, Gamescom 2024 saw a significant shift, with developers openly discussing the upcoming console. According to Alessio Palumbo of Wccftech, some developers have even postponed game launches to coincide with the PS5 Pro's release.
Palumbo reports an anonymous developer confirming receipt of the PS5 Pro's specifications and predicting significantly improved Unreal Engine 5 performance compared to the standard PS5. This corroborates a similar report from Multiplayer, an Italian gaming site, which also cited a developer delaying a game launch to align with the rumored PS5 Pro release. Palumbo emphasizes that these are likely different developers, with one being from a smaller studio, suggesting widespread access to the PS5 Pro's specs.
Analyst Predictions Fuel the Fire
Adding credence to these reports, analyst William R. Aguilar suggested on X (formerly Twitter) in July that Sony is poised to announce the PS5 Pro later this year, potentially during a September 2024 State of Play event. This strategy mirrors the PS4 Pro's launch in 2016, announced on September 7th and released just two months later. Palumbo suggests that if Sony follows a similar pattern, a formal announcement is likely imminent.
