There are several ways to snag a Nickit during the Deep Depths event:

• Wild Encounters: Nickit will appear as an uncommon wild Pokémon. Keep a close eye on your in-game radar to spot it!

• 7km Eggs: Nickit is hatching from 7km Eggs. Bonus: Egg hatch distances are halved during the event!

• Field Research: Complete the "Defeat two Team Go Rocket Grunts" Field Research task for a Nickit encounter.

• Premium Timed Research: The Deep Depths Premium Timed Research Ticket ($1.99) guarantees two Nickit encounters; one after defeating a Team Go Rocket Grunt, and another upon completing all research tasks.

Evolving Nickit into Thievul in Pokémon GO

You won't find Thievul in the wild. To evolve your Nickit, collect 50 Nickit Candy. Use Pinap Berries to double your candy yield from catches. Setting a Pokédex alert for Nickit appearances will also help you track it down efficiently.
