Mugen Project Reborn: Unveiled as "Ananta" in Captivating Trailer

Naked Rain and NetEase's upcoming open-world RPG, initially known as Project Mugen, has been officially renamed Ananta. First unveiled at Gamescom 2023, the game has finally released a new trailer after a prolonged period of silence, with further details promised on December 5th. View the official trailer below:

The reason for the name change remains undisclosed by the developers. Interestingly, "Ananta" translates to "infinite" in Sanskrit, mirroring the meaning of "Mugen" (also meaning infinite). The Chinese title further supports this thematic consistency.

While the name change has sparked mixed reactions within the gaming community, the renewed activity surrounding the project is generally welcomed. Comparisons are already being drawn between Ananta and Hotta Studio's upcoming RPG, Neverness to Everness. Although Ananta's trailer is visually impressive, the lack of gameplay footage currently favors Neverness to Everness in many players' opinions. However, Ananta's aesthetic appeal is undeniable.

A surprising development is the deletion of the original Project Mugen social media accounts, including a YouTube channel boasting over 100,000 subscribers and millions of views. Only the Discord server has been retained and renamed; all other online presence has been completely restarted. This unconventional approach has left many gamers perplexed.

Ananta casts players as an Infinite Trigger, a paranormal investigator combating supernatural chaos. Key characters include Taffy, Bansy, Alan, Mechanika, and Dila.
