Minecraft Made Math Magical: Screen Division Simplified

Author : Eleanor Dec 30,2024

Relive the classic couch co-op experience with Minecraft! This guide shows you how to easily set up split-screen multiplayer on your Xbox One or other compatible console. Gather your friends, grab some snacks, and let's get started!

Important Considerations:

Minecraft split-screen is a console-exclusive feature. PC players, unfortunately, can't join the fun this way. You'll need a TV or monitor supporting at least 720p HD resolution, and your console must also support this resolution. HDMI connection is recommended for automatic resolution adjustment; VGA may require manual configuration within your console's settings.

Local Split-Screen Gameplay (Up to 4 Players):

  1. Connect your console: Use an HDMI cable to connect your console to your HD display.

  2. Launch Minecraft: Start Minecraft and choose to create a new world or load an existing one. Crucially, disable the online multiplayer option in the game settings.

  3. Configure your world: Select your difficulty, game mode, and world generation options. If loading a pre-existing world, skip this step.

  4. Start the game: Press the "Start" button to begin the game.

  5. Add players: Once the game loads, activate additional player slots. The specific button varies by console; on PlayStation, it's typically the "Options" button (press twice); on Xbox, it's usually the "Start" button.

  6. Log in and play: Each player needs to log into their account to join the split-screen session. The screen will automatically divide into sections (2-4 players).

Online Multiplayer with Local Split-Screen:

While you can't directly split-screen with online players, you can combine local split-screen with online players. Follow steps 1-4 above, but enable the online multiplayer option before starting the game. Then, send invitations to your remote friends to join your world.
