FFXIV Mobile Coming Soon in China
A recent report from Niko Partners, a video game market research firm, suggests a mobile version of Final Fantasy XIV is in the works, a joint project between Square Enix and Tencent. This mobile game is among a list of 15 titles approved by China's National Press and Publication Administration (NPPA) for release in the country.
While neither Square Enix nor Tencent have officially confirmed the project, industry rumors point to a standalone MMORPG distinct from the PC version. This aligns with Square Enix's stated strategy of aggressively pursuing multiplatform releases for its flagship titles, including the Final Fantasy franchise. The report also includes other notable games slated for release in China, such as mobile and PC versions of Rainbow Six, and mobile games based on Marvel Snap, Marvel Rivals, and Dynasty Warriors 8.
Tencent's involvement underscores its significant presence in the mobile gaming market and its potential role in expanding Square Enix's reach. The confirmation of the Final Fantasy XIV mobile game's approval, however, remains based largely on industry speculation. Further official announcements are awaited for definitive confirmation.
