New Encyclopedia and TTRPG Set in Nosgoth Announced by Legacy of Kain Developers

Exciting news for fans of the iconic Legacy of Kain series: Crystal Dynamics, in collaboration with UK-based design studio Lost in Cult, has just announced two thrilling new projects that delve deeper into the dark and intricate world of Nosgoth. Following the release of Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered in December 2024, these new ventures promise to enrich the franchise's lore and engage its community in fresh, immersive ways.

Lost in Cult and Cook and Becker Announced Legacy of Kain Encyclopedia

Crystal Dynamics, the California-based game developer, has teamed up with Lost In Cult and the Dutch art dealership Cook and Becker to bring these projects to life. "We’re incredibly excited to be diving back into the world of Nosgoth with these two passion projects," said Ryan Brown of Lost In Cult. The first of these projects is The Book of Nosgoth, an official encyclopedia crafted by Nic Reuben of Rock Paper Shotgun. This comprehensive guide will delve into the gothic world of Nosgoth, detailing its locations, factions, and inhabitants, as well as providing a detailed timeline of the epic rivalry between Kain and Raziel.

Beyond its lore, The Book of Nosgoth will offer a treasure trove of behind-the-scenes content, including original concept art, sketches, maps, and exclusive interviews with the developers. It will also explore the development history of all five Legacy of Kain titles, offering fans a deep dive into the series' creation.

An Official Legacy of Kain TTRPG Will Also Be Releasing Soon

The second project, Legacy of Kain: Scourge of Sarafan, is a tabletop role-playing game set in Nosgoth during the Sarafan Order’s crusade against vampires. Using the acclaimed MÖRK BORG ruleset, this TTRPG promises a mechanics-light yet intense gameplay experience. Players will take on the roles of Sarafan warrior priests, navigating through Nosgoth's unique landscape, hunting vampires, uncovering hidden histories, and venturing into the spectral realm. With six playable classes, unique weapons and spells, and an official bestiary of nocturnal horrors, Legacy of Kain: Scourge of Sarafan invites players to forge their own paths in a gripping campaign.
