Dragon Quest 12 Information to Be Revealed 'Little by Little,' Series Creator Yuji Horii Says

Dragon Quest XII remains under development, with updates to be revealed gradually, according to series creator Yuji Horii.
During a recent livestream with his radio show group, KosoKoso Hōsō Kyoku, Horii confirmed that the Square Enix development team is diligently working on Dragon Quest XII. This marks the first official update since May 2024, following the passing of key figures Akira Toriyama and Koichi Sugiyama. The departure of lead producer Yu Miyake to head Square Enix's mobile game division was also noted at that time.
Horii's statement directly addresses fan concerns regarding the game's status amidst Square Enix's restructuring and the absence of recent news. His comments effectively confirm that Dragon Quest XII is still actively in production.
Announced as part of the franchise's 35th anniversary, Dragon Quest XII will be the first main series installment since 2017's Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age. Square Enix has since reported that the Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake surpassed sales projections, reaching 2 million units sold.
