Hyper Light Breaker, the 3D rogue-lite successor to Hyper Light Drifter, introduces a compelling multiplayer component. This guide details how to team up with friends or join random online matches.

Playing with Friends in Hyper Light Breaker

To play co-op with friends, you'll need to create a private multiplayer room. In the Cursed Outpost hub, approach the counter to the left of your commander.

Interact with the counter (typically R1 or RB) to access the Multiplayer menu. Select "Create Breaker Team."

Enable "Password Required" and set a password. Invite up to two friends via your platform's social features (PSN, Xbox, Steam supported). The game supports three-player teams.

Friends can join via the invitation or, if they're already in-game, through the "Invitations" tab. Alternatively, your team might appear in the "Join Breaker Team" list. Ensure your friends know the password.

Random Online Matchmaking

For solo players, public groups allow for seamless online matchmaking. In the Multiplayer menu:

Select "Join Breaker Team."

Scroll to the bottom and choose "Join Random Public Breaker Team."

The game will connect you to an available public team. To leave a multiplayer session, return to the Multiplayer menu in the Cursed Outpost and select the "Disconnect" option (appears only when in a session). Alternatively, simply exit the game.
