What Are Legendary Sumi-E in Assassin’s Creed Shadows?

Legendary Sumi-E are unique ancient animal paintings that both Naoe and Yasuke can create in the wild. A painting icon will appear on your compass and map when you're near one of these targets. To capture these, you'll need to crouch and approach stealthily. Once close enough, hold L2/LT to complete the painting. However, locating the legendary Sumi-E is more challenging as they don't appear on the map. There are five of these special paintings in the game, and their availability depends on the season.

All Legendary Sumi-E Locations in Assassin’s Creed Shadows

Legendary Tanuki – Summer, Daytime

To find the Legendary Tanuki Sumi-E, head to the Omi region during summer daytime. Navigate to Shimmering Fields, specifically the Shigaraki Hamlet. Upon arrival, you'll see Tanuki statues scattered around. Follow the path upward to a clearing where the legendary Tanuki will be roaming. Approach carefully and complete your drawing.

Legendary Grey Heron – Winter, Daytime

The Grey Heron can be found in Wakasa, near Lake Suigetsu, during winter daytime. Head to the western islands of Lake Suigetsu. Approach cautiously on foot, locate the marked area on the map, and stealthily approach the heron to complete the Sumi-E.

Legendary Macaque – All Seasons, Nighttime

Travel to the Yamashiro region and find the Little Leaf Glade. Locate the Sarumaru Shrine near the mountains. At night, ascend the stairs to the top where you'll find the three wise monkeys. Capture this serene scene in your Sumi-E.

Legendary Silver Fox – Autumn, Nighttime

To find the legendary Silver Fox Sumi-E, visit the Kii region and the Nakahechi Route during autumn nighttime. At the Kamimisu Inari Shrine, surrounded by fox statues, you'll spot this creature at the cliff's edge. Approach stealthily and complete your drawing.

Legendary Deer – Spring, Nighttime

Navigate to the Yamato region and the Yoshino sub-region during spring nighttime. Start from the Mountain Blossom Temple and head east to reach Sakura Meadows. Climb the slopes to a clearing where the legendary Deer awaits. Capture this moment in your Sumi-E collection.

Keep in mind that even if you're in the correct location at the right time, the animals might not always spawn. If this happens, try fast-traveling to a nearby location and returning to see if your luck changes. With persistence, you'll soon complete your collection.
