Capcom's recent trademark application for "Dino Crisis" in Japan has ignited excitement among fans. While not a guarantee of a new game, the public filing strongly indicates Capcom is actively exploring possibilities for the franchise. This trademark secures the rights for future projects, potentially including a remake of the beloved dinosaur survival horror series. Originally conceived by Shinji Mikami, the creator of Resident Evil, the first Dino Crisis game launched on the PlayStation 1 in 1999. Two sequels followed, but the series went dormant after 2003, leaving fans yearning for a return.

This speculation is fueled by Capcom's 2024 announcement to revitalize older, dormant franchises. This followed the announcements of an Okami sequel and Onimusha: Way of the Sword. Further bolstering hopes, Dino Crisis topped a Capcom fan poll in Summer 2024 for the "most desired continuation," making a revival increasingly likely.
