Treyarch Unveils "The Tomb," a New Map for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Zombies, in 115 Day Celebration

Treyarch is celebrating 115 Day with a flurry of announcements for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Zombies, including the highly anticipated reveal of a new map: The Tomb. This annual celebration, falling on January 15th, treats Call of Duty fans to a comprehensive blog detailing upcoming zombie-themed surprises.

The Tomb, a desert-themed map, will launch with Season 2 on January 28th, following closely on the heels of Season 1's Citadelle des Morts. The narrative continues as Weaver, Grey, Carver, and Maya investigate Gabriel Krafft's final clues, leading them to an excavation site – a network of catacombs built upon ancient burial grounds dating back to 2500 B.C.E. The mysteries beneath the surface promise a deeper narrative than previously imagined.

While details remain scarce, Treyarch hints at connections to a British archaeologist, Sir Archibald Fotherington-Smythe. Gameplay-wise, The Tomb is designed to offer a similar experience to Liberty Falls, emphasizing tighter play spaces and high replayability through the discovery of numerous Easter eggs.

Season 2 also introduces a reimagined Wonder Weapon, drawing inspiration from previous entries, and the return of a beloved iconic SMG. Further details on both are yet to be revealed.

Significant quality-of-life improvements are also on the horizon. Players can now track up to 10 Calling Card and 10 Camo challenges across both Zombies and Multiplayer modes. A co-op pause option is added for Zombies, allowing the party leader to pause mid-game. Separate HUD presets for Zombies and Multiplayer will be implemented, alongside the ability to rejoin Zombies matches with your loadout after being disconnected.

To commemorate 115 Day, players can enjoy double GobbleGum earn rates and double XP for players, weapons, and the battle pass until 10 AM PT on January 21st. Treyarch also shared impressive statistics for Directed Mode, revealing over 480 million hours played. The team highlighted the mode's success in increasing Main Quest completion rates from 3.38% to 8.23% since its launch.

The upcoming release of The Tomb also brings attention to the recent voice actor recasting for some Zombies characters, acknowledged by Activision due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike.
