The Blood of Dawnwalker Devs Are Striving For Witcher 3 Levels of Quality

The Blood of Dawnwalker: Aiming for AAA Quality

30-40 Hour Main Campaign

In an interview with GamesRadar, Creative Director Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz clarified Rebel Wolves' ambition. Despite being a smaller studio releasing its debut game, the team is striving for AAA quality comparable to CD Projekt Red's The Witcher 3.

Addressing the often blurry line between AA and AAA, Tomaszkiewicz stated, "In terms of quality, we definitely look at AAA, because this is where we are coming from, the quality level of The Witcher 3."

While Rebel Wolves is a new studio, its team boasts extensive experience. Comprising ex-developers from CD Projekt Red who worked on The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077, Rebel Wolves possesses a wealth of industry knowledge. Mateusz and his brother Konrad founded the studio to pursue greater creative freedom than offered by larger AAA studios.

Tomaszkiewicz explained the scope: "Definitely, our games are not as huge in terms of amount of content and gameplay hours – we are a smaller studio, this is our first project, so we definitely are building something smaller. But we want to build something as robust in terms of quality, maybe a bit shorter." He confirmed a targeted 30-40 hour campaign, acknowledging it's shorter than many AAA titles but emphasizing that quality, not sheer length, is the priority. He points out that not all AAA games boast hundreds of hours of gameplay, citing Call of Duty as an example.

The Blood of Dawnwalker is a narrative-driven, open-world dark fantasy RPG set in the mystical land of Vale Sangora. Players assume the role of Coen, a young peasant granted vampiric powers after a fateful encounter. Coen's quest to save his ailing sister unfolds amidst the dangers and intrigues of this dark world.

While a release date remains unannounced, The Blood of Dawnwalker is slated for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. A gameplay reveal is promised for Summer 2025.
