Recent Windows 11 Update Disrupts Assassin's Creed Gameplay; Patches Released

A recent Windows 11 update (24H2) introduced compatibility issues affecting several Assassin's Creed titles. Fortunately, Ubisoft has addressed the problem for Assassin's Creed Origins and Assassin's Creed Valhalla with dedicated patches. These updates are automatically applied via Steam, resolving launch and functionality problems for these two games. Players should ensure sufficient storage space (230 MB for Origins, 500 MB for Valhalla) before updating.

However, the issue persists for some Ubisoft games, notably Assassin's Creed Odyssey. While previous patches mitigated problems in other titles like Star Wars: Outlaws and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, Odyssey players may experience similar launch failures or unresponsive gameplay. Ubisoft has yet to release a patch for Odyssey, advising affected users to postpone the Windows 11 24H2 update until a fix is available.

The root cause of the incompatibility remains unclear. While the 24H2 update boasts features like Wi-Fi 7 support and AI Copilot+ PC integration, it inadvertently caused these gaming disruptions. Reports surfaced five months prior to the official release, yet the issue wasn't resolved before the widespread rollout. This is particularly concerning given Microsoft's push for Windows 10 users to upgrade to Windows 11. Despite this, the majority of games appear unaffected by the update.
