Alienware Aurora R16 RTX 5080 Gaming PC Launched at $2,399

Author : Sadie Apr 11,2025

Starting today, Dell is offering an incredible deal on the Alienware Aurora R16 gaming PC, now equipped with the brand-new GeForce RTX 5080 GPU for just $2,399.99, including shipping. This is one of the most competitive prices available for an RTX 5080 prebuilt system, especially given the steady price increases across other brands since the RTX 50 series launch in January. At Dell, the only other RTX 5080 equipped prebuilt is priced over $4,000. If you're considering building your own PC, good luck finding a standalone RTX 5080 GPU; you might end up spending as much on the GPU alone as you would on this entire system.

This Alienware Aurora R16 gaming PC is powered by an Intel Core Ultra 7 265F CPU and a GeForce RTX 5080 GPU, complemented by 16GB of DDR5-5200MHz RAM and a 1TB NVMe SSD. The Intel Core Ultra 7 265F Meteor Lake CPU features a max turbo frequency of 5.3GHz with 20 cores and a 30MB cache. The system is cooled efficiently with a 240mm all-in-one liquid cooler and supported by a robust 1,000W 80PLUS Platinum power supply.

The RTX 5080, one of three new Blackwell graphics cards, has been nearly impossible to find since its release. In our Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 FE review, Jackie notes, "If you already own a high-end graphics card from recent years, the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 might not be a significant upgrade – its performance barely surpasses the RTX 4080, though the DLSS 4 Multi-Frame Generation does enhance visuals in compatible games. However, for gamers with older GPUs looking for a substantial performance boost, the RTX 5080 delivers impressively, especially if you're keen on utilizing Nvidia's AI features."

New for 2025: The Alienware Area-51 Chassis

Dell unveiled the new Alienware Area-51 gaming PC at CES 2025. The chassis design is reminiscent of the 2024 R16 system but features minor aesthetic and cooling updates along with refreshed components. The I/O panel is now located at the top of the case rather than the front, and the tempered glass window covers the entire side panel, eliminating the need for side panel vents. Air intakes are now positioned at the bottom and front of the case, promoting a positive airflow design that typically results in a cleaner interior. The internal components have been upgraded with a new motherboard, faster RAM, and a more powerful power supply to support the latest CPUs and RTX 50 series GPUs.

RTX 5080 and 5090 GPUs Are Sold Out Everywhere

The initial batch of Nvidia GeForce RTX 50-series graphics cards sold out within an hour of preorders opening. The RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 were the first to be released, followed by the RTX 5070 Ti in February. Similarly, prebuilt gaming PCs with these GPUs are either sold out, have increased in price, or are facing extended delivery delays.
