Summary
- World of Warcraft's Plunderstorm event has been unexpectedly delayed.
- A new launch time has not yet been announced.
- Players can enjoy other WoW activities while waiting for Plunderstorm.
World of Warcraft has delayed the launch of its second Plunderstorm event due to unforeseen technical issues. While a return before the end of January 14th is still planned, players will need to exercise patience.
Plunderstorm, a popular pirate-themed battle royale mode introduced during Dragonflight in 2024, was slated to return on January 14th, 2025, offering both returning and new rewards. However, unexpected problems arose during the rollout. An initially planned six-hour maintenance period was extended to eight hours, with servers scheduled to return at 3 PM PST. Despite this, WoW community manager Kaivax announced further delays due to unresolved issues. While a launch before the end of January 14th remains the goal, no concrete timeframe has been provided.
When Will Plunderstorm Go Live in World of Warcraft?
- Before the end of January 14th, pending resolution of unexpected issues.
Regular WoW servers are now back online. Players anticipating Plunderstorm can participate in Siren Isle weeklies, the second week of the Turbulent Timeways event, or other activities within The War Within.
This second iteration of Plunderstorm introduces new features, including the Plunderstore and an in-game event interface accessible while logged in. These features may be contributing to the delays, and Blizzard is working to resolve the issues quickly.
Despite the game mode delay, the new Plunderstorm Twitch Drops are live. Watch four hours of any World of Warcraft streamer on Twitch before February 4th at 10 AM PST to earn the Coward’s Azure Target back transmog. The streamer doesn't need to be playing Plunderstorm, allowing players to earn this reward while waiting for the event's return.
