Partner/Indie World Showcase Delivers a Bounty of Games
Nintendo's decision to combine two smaller showcases proved effective, resulting in a flurry of announcements. Highlights include surprise game launches (detailed below), Capcom Fighting Collection 2, the remastered Suikoden I & II, Yakuza Kiwami, Tetris Forever, MySims, Worms Armageddon: Anniversary Edition, new entries in the Atelier and Rune Factory series, and much more. I highly recommend watching the full video for a comprehensive overview.
Select New Releases
Castlevania Dominus Collection ($24.99)
A surprise hit from the Direct, this third Castlevania compilation features the three Nintendo DS titles: Dawn of Sorrow, Portrait of Ruin, and Order of Ecclesia. Also included are the original, notoriously difficult arcade game Haunted Castle, and a significantly improved M2 remake. This collection offers exceptional emulation and a wealth of features, making it an incredible value.
Pizza Tower ($19.99)
This Wario Land-inspired platformer is another surprise release. Conquer five massive floors of the Pizza Tower to save your restaurant. Fans of classic Wario platformers will find this a must-have, but even those without a strong Wario attachment should consider this frantic platforming experience. A review is pending.
Goat Simulator 3 ($29.99)
Yet another unexpected addition. It's Goat Simulator 3! The chaotic gameplay is familiar to fans of the series. While performance on the Switch remains unconfirmed, other platforms have experienced some challenges. Proceed with caution, but even subpar performance might add to the game's inherently absurd charm. Silly goats, silly antics, and potential Switch overheating – the choice is yours!
Peglin ($19.99)
I believe EA missed a significant opportunity by not bringing PopCap games to the Switch. But for Peggle fans, Peglin is an excellent alternative. This mobile hit is now available on Switch, blending Peggle mechanics with turn-based RPG roguelite elements. A review is coming soon.
Doraemon Dorayaki Shop Story ($20.00)
Kairosoft adds a popular license to its simulation formula. Doraemon Dorayaki Shop Story features characters from the beloved Doraemon series, and even includes cameos from the creator's other works. A charming and well-executed addition to the genre.
Pico Park 2 ($8.99)
More Pico Park for existing fans. Up to eight players can join in locally or online, making cooperation and puzzle-solving key to success. While fun for those who enjoyed the first game, it doesn't offer enough novelty to attract new players.
Kamitsubaki City Ensemble ($3.99)
An affordable rhythm game featuring music from Kamitsubaki Studio. Simple but enjoyable for its price point.
SokoPenguin ($4.99)
A classic Sokoban-style puzzle game starring a penguin. One hundred levels of crate-pushing challenges await.
Q2 Humanity ($6.80)
Over three hundred quirky physics-based puzzles that utilize drawing mechanics and character abilities. Supports up to four players locally or online.
