Stardew Valley: How To Befriend The Dwarf

This guide delves into the enigmatic Dwarf, a unique character in Stardew Valley. Unlike other villagers, befriending the Dwarf requires deciphering a new language and yields different rewards. This updated guide reflects recent game updates (January 8, 2024).

Meeting the Dwarf

Located in the mines, to the right of the first floor entrance, a large boulder obscures the Dwarf's shop. Destroy this boulder (using a copper pickaxe or bomb) to reveal his dwelling.

Learning Dwarvish

The Dwarf doesn't speak common tongue. To communicate, collect all four Dwarf Scrolls (artifacts). Donate them to the museum; Gunther will reward you with a Dwarvish translation guide. Now you can understand and befriend the Dwarf, and access his shop.

Gift Guide

Gifts are crucial for building friendship. Remember, the Dwarf's birthday is Summer 22 (gifts given then yield 8x friendship points). You can give up to two gifts weekly.

Loved Gifts (+80 Friendship Points):

• Gemstones: Amethyst , Aquamarine , Jade , Ruby , Topaz , Emerald
• Lemon Stone
• Omni Geode
• Lava Eel
• All universally loved gifts

Liked Gifts (+45 Friendship Points):

• All universally liked gifts
• All artifacts
• Cave Carrot
• Quartz

Disliked & Hated Gifts (Negative Friendship Points): Avoid these!

• Mushrooms and other foraged items
• All universally hated gifts (except artifacts)

Movie Theater Interactions

Once unlocked, invite the Dwarf to the Movie Theater. He loves all movie choices but has snack preferences:

• Loves: Stardrop Sorbet, Rock Candy
• Likes: Cotton Candy, Ice Cream Sandwich, Jawbreaker, Salmon Burger, Sour Slimes, Star Cookie

Other snacks will decrease friendship. Enjoy befriending this unique villager!
