1047 Games, the creators of the popular arena shooter, announces the highly anticipated sequel: Splitgate 2! Dive into the Sol Splitgate League and experience a fresh take on portal-powered combat.

A Familiar Feeling, a Brand New Game

Revealed on July 18th with a stunning cinematic trailer, Splitgate 2 builds upon the original's success, aiming for a decade or more of gameplay longevity. While inspired by classic arena shooters, the sequel refines the core mechanics for a deeper, more rewarding experience. CEO Ian Proulx emphasizes the development of tools to create a satisfying gameplay loop, while Head of Marketing Hilary Goldstein highlights a reimagined portal system designed to challenge seasoned players while remaining accessible to newcomers.

Developed using Unreal Engine 5 and remaining free-to-play, Splitgate 2 introduces a faction system alongside familiar elements, promising a completely fresh feel. The game will launch in 2025 on PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One.

Known for its unique blend of Halo-style combat and Portal's portal mechanics, the original Splitgate achieved phenomenal success, boasting 600,000 demo downloads in a single month. Its popularity led to server capacity upgrades and a prolonged early access period. The decision to cease updates on the original game paved the way for Splitgate 2, promising revolutionary changes.

New Factions, Maps, and More

The trailer showcased the Sol Splitgate League and three distinct factions: Aeros (dashing mobility), Meridian (tactical time manipulation), and Sabrask (brute force). These factions add depth without transforming Splitgate 2 into a hero shooter.

While full gameplay details remain under wraps until Gamescom 2024 (August 21-25), the trailer offers a glimpse into the game's visuals, maps, weapons, and the return of dual-wielding.
