The boys are back in town — and by the boys, we mean Stan, Kyle, Kenny, and Cartman. South Park has officially announced the much-anticipated return for Season 27, and it appears that our favorite Colorado crew is tackling the state of the world in their signature, barely-coping style.

The beloved animated series released a new trailer to tease the upcoming season, but cleverly tricked the audience into thinking it was a sneak peek at a new drama. The intense editing and suspenseful music set an ominous tone... until the scene shifts to Stan’s dad, Randy, and his sister Shelley. Sitting on her bed with a Wicked movie poster in the background, Randy asks Shelley if she's been taking drugs. "Because I think it could really help you," he suggests, breaking the tension with classic South Park humor.

South Park Season 27 premieres Wednesday, July 9th.

The trailer then returns to its dramatic flair, hinting at several major (and topical) plot points for the season, including multiple plane crashes, the toppling of the Statue of Liberty, a P. Diddy cameo, and yet another war with Canada. Longtime fans, or even those familiar with the 1999 film South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut, won't be surprised by the latter.

The teaser confirms that Season 27 will premiere on July 9, 2025, on Comedy Central, marking over two years since the conclusion of Season 26. In the interim, the series has kept fans engaged with three specials: 2023’s South Park: Joining the Panderverse and South Park (Not Suitable For Children), followed by 2024’s South Park: The End of Obesity.

South Park celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2022, having debuted on Comedy Central to near-instant acclaim back in 1997.
