Sonic the Hedgehog: IDW Charts a Dramatic New Future for the Series – IGN Fan Fest 2025

The iconic Sonic the Hedgehog comic series from IDW recently celebrated a significant achievement with the release of its 75th issue. In Sonic the Hedgehog #75, readers witnessed the epic conclusion of Team Sonic's battle against the formidable villain, Clutch. This issue sets the stage for an intriguing new storyline titled "Scattered Pieces," which will continue through issues #76 to #80. With Sonic the Hedgehog #76 already available in stores, IGN has the exclusive privilege of unveiling new artwork from the near-final chapter of this captivating arc at IGN Fan Fest. The storyline "Scattered Pieces" is penned by the series' regular writer, Ian Flynn. For Sonic the Hedgehog #79, Adam Bryce Thomas is responsible for both the interior artwork and the main cover, while variant covers are contributed by Tyler Mcgrath and Nathalie Fourdraine.

Ian Flynn shared his insights with IGN, stating, "IDW’s Sonic the Hedgehog has been going strong for seven years now, and in that time has cultivated a number of storylines, characters, and narrative elements it can call its own. A lot of those all came to a head in Evan Stanley’s latest arc. Reaching a story’s climax is always fun, but I’m also just as eager to explore the follow-up. There will be a lot of fans asking 'What happens next?' My arc gets to answer that, bring a few conclusions of my own, and set the stage for Evan’s next major arc with the series."
