The Last of Us Season 2 Release Date Confirmed

HBO's highly anticipated The Last of Us Season 2 premieres this April! Mark your calendars for Sunday, April 13th at 9pm ET/PT, streaming simultaneously on Max. This seven-episode season promises a thrilling continuation of Joel and Ellie's journey.

Five years after the events of Season 1, we find Joel and Ellie settling into a new life with Tommy in Montana. Season 2 adapts the events of The Last of Us Part 2, so familiarizing yourself with the game is recommended for a richer viewing experience.

Returning are Pedro Pascal as Joel and Bella Ramsey as Ellie, joined by a stellar cast of newcomers: Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, Isabela Merced as Dina, Merle Dandridge as Marlene, Lamar Johnson as Frank, Keivonn Woodard as Sam, Graham Greene as Marlon, and Ella Purnell as a young version of Marlene. Tati Gabrielle joins the cast as Nora, and will also be starring in Naughty Dog’s upcoming game, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet.

Following the phenomenal success of Season 1—which garnered numerous Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards and Primetime Emmy nominations, including Outstanding Drama Series—HBO is clearly invested in the future of The Last of Us. Francesca Orsi, from HBO, has hinted at a potential four-season run, suggesting this season won't fully encompass the entirety of The Last of Us Part 2.
