To achieve the best ending in *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2*, completing specific tasks is essential, and saving Sam is one of them. Knowing where to find Sam is crucial for those aiming for perfection in the game.

Rescuing Sam During "Reckoning"

As you approach the conclusion of the main quest line, you'll discover that Sam is being held captive at Praguer's Camp, captured by Brabant. Your opportunity to rescue him comes during the main quest "Reckoning." You can't simply stroll into the camp to free him; instead, you must choose between stealth or violence to infiltrate it.

To move freely within the camp without raising suspicion, you'll need a guard's outfit. You can obtain this by killing a guard and stealing his attire, then hiding the body, or by looting one of the many chests scattered around the camp. Once you have the outfit equipped, you can explore the camp to locate Sam without being questioned.

When to Rescue Sam

After freeing Sam, it's not yet time to escape the camp with him. He'll inform you about von Aulitz, who is also in the camp. It's advisable to deal with von Aulitz first, then find a horse, and finally return to Sam to get him out of the camp. Sam can wait a bit longer without issue, and tackling these tasks in this order makes it easier to manage, especially since you'll need to carry him to the horse.

Von Aulitz is found in the main part of the camp. With the guard outfit on, the guards outside his door will allow you to enter without trouble. When you find von Aulitz, he'll be near death and will request a dignified end. You can grant him this honorable death, or you can choose to kill him mercilessly or leave him to suffer a slow demise. Interestingly, leaving him to die actually contributes to the best ending.

The final steps involve retrieving Sam and securing a horse. Sam will still be in the barn where you left him. If a guard questions your actions with Sam, simply explain that you're moving the body to avoid suspicion. Then, head to the camp gates, turn right, and follow the perimeter until you reach the stables.
