Rumor: Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake Canceled
The highly anticipated Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake, first teased in September 2021, has been shrouded in mystery ever since. Recent reports suggest the project may face a far less optimistic future than fans had hoped. Alex Smith, former head of Bend Studio and a key figure in the Syphon Filter series, has claimed on X that development has completely ceased. This contradicts Saber Interactive's 2024 statement that development was ongoing. Smith alleges that some team members have been reassigned, while others have been laid off. If accurate, this would be devastating news for fans eagerly awaiting this iconic RPG remake.
Smith has a history of providing credible insider information, accurately predicting a Housemarque game announcement. However, his past predictions regarding Death Stranding 2 and Ghost of Tsushima release dates were inaccurate, so his claims should be approached with caution.
As of yet, Saber Interactive and Aspyr have not publicly responded to these allegations, leaving the fate of the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake uncertain.
