Rumor: The First Specs Of The Nvidia RTX 5090 Have Leaked
Nvidia's GeForce RTX 5090: A Deep Dive into Leaked Specs and Expected Performance
Nvidia is poised to unveil its next-generation graphics card lineup, the RTX 50 series (codenamed Blackwell), at CES 2025. Leaks suggest the flagship RTX 5090 will be a powerhouse, but at a significant cost.
Key features anticipated for the RTX 5090 include:
- Massive Memory: A substantial 32GB of GDDR7 video memory—double that of the projected RTX 5080 and 5070 Ti.
- High Power Consumption: A hefty 575W power draw, significantly higher than the RTX 4090's 450W. This necessitates a high-capacity power supply.
- Advanced Features: Leveraging Nvidia's Tensor Cores for AI processing, DLSS upscaling, ray tracing, and PCIe 5.0 support (on compatible motherboards).
These specifications were initially hinted at by Inno3D, an Nvidia AIB partner, showcasing their iChill X3 RTX 5090—a triple-fan card occupying over three expansion slots. The packaging confirmed the 32GB GDDR7 memory and the 575W power requirement.
While these details are currently unconfirmed by Nvidia, the RTX 50 series is expected to compete directly with AMD's Radeon RX 9000 series and Intel's Battlemage GPUs. The RTX 5090, in particular, is anticipated to carry a premium price tag, potentially starting at $1999 or more. Nvidia has yet to officially comment on pricing. The RTX 5080 and 5070 Ti are also slated for a January 6th reveal alongside the RTX 5090.
The RTX 50 series will utilize a proprietary 16-pin power connector, though adapters will be provided. The official unveiling at Nvidia's CES keynote on January 6th, 9:30 PM Eastern, will clarify the specifications and pricing.
