Rocksteady Seeks Director for Batman Game

Author : Brooklyn Feb 20,2025

Rocksteady Studios is searching for a Game Director for its next major title, as evidenced by a job posting from Warner Bros. Discovery on February 17th.

The posting seeks a candidate capable of crafting a high-quality game design, encompassing core gameplay, player progression, combat systems, and mission structure. Experience in third-person action, open-world adventures, and melee combat is highly desirable. This has fueled speculation of a return to the Batman franchise, the series that propelled Rocksteady to fame. The Arkham series closely matches these specifications, unlike the more gun-focused Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.

As the hiring process is in its early stages, the game is likely still in the conceptual phase. Industry analyst Jason Schreier suggests that a new single-player Batman title, should it materialize, is still several years away.

Rocksteady's latest release, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, launched February 2nd, 2024, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam). Reception has been mixed, scoring 63/100 on Metacritic (critics) and 4.2/10 (users).

Previous reports hinted at a potential Rocksteady Batman project, possibly inspired by the Batman Beyond animated series.
