Ananta: NetEase's Open-World RPG Unveiled

NetEase Games and Naked Rain have finally revealed the official title for their highly anticipated Project Mugen: Ananta. A new PV and teaser trailer showcase gameplay and offer a clearer picture of this urban, open-world RPG.

The preview video provides a glimpse into Ananta's world, characters, and the looming threat of chaotic forces from beyond. Nova City, a sprawling metropolis, serves as the game's expansive setting, populated by a diverse cast of characters battling against this encroaching danger.

While comparisons to MiHoYo's titles, particularly Zenless Zone Zero, are inevitable, Ananta distinguishes itself, especially in its impressive movement mechanics. The PV highlights fluid and dynamic character movement, raising questions about the extent of explorable space within the city and whether players will experience truly agile, Spider-Man-style traversal.

Dynamic Movement and Exploration

The fluidity of movement showcased in the PV is striking. The extent to which this translates to seamless exploration across Nova City's streets and rooftops remains to be seen. Will the game feature instanced areas, or will Ananta offer truly unrestricted movement?

Ananta undoubtedly shares similarities with MiHoYo's Hoyoverse titles like Genshin Impact, but NetEase's ambition extends beyond mere emulation. The true test will be whether Ananta can carve its own niche and potentially challenge the current dominance of 3D gacha RPGs.
