A Japanese YouTuber has achieved a remarkable feat in Pokémon TCG Pocket, accumulating an impressive collection of 50,000 cards by consistently purchasing the maximum daily amount of Poké Gold since the game's launch. This dedication reveals more about the game's engaging mechanics and its recent collaboration with McDonald's.

Hajimesyacho, a popular Japanese YouTuber known for diverse content ranging from product reviews to vlogs and challenges, proudly announced his accomplishment on Twitter (X). Since the game's October 30, 2024 launch, he's purchased the daily maximum of 720 Poké Gold, costing approximately $100 per day. Over the game's 85-day lifespan, this equates to an estimated expenditure of $8,500, not accounting for any potential sales or discounts during the launch period or holiday season.

This dedication has allowed Hajimesyacho to amass a comprehensive collection, encompassing cards from the Genetic Apex (A1) and Mythical Island booster packs, along with limited-time promotional cards. His collection even includes the recently released "Pokedex" Trainer card, a reward given to players celebrating the global collection milestone of 40 billion cards.

McDonald's x Pokémon TCG Happy Meal Collaboration

Adding to the excitement, The Pokémon Company announced a surprise collaboration with McDonald's on January 21, 2025. Pokémon-themed Happy Meals feature collectible physical cards and in-game items for Pokémon TCG Pocket.

Fifteen unique physical cards, including popular Pokémon like Miraidon, Roaring Moon, Rayquaza, and more (seven of which are holo/foil cards), are randomly included. TCG Pocket players can also redeem in-game rewards: 24 Pack Hourglasses and 12 Hourglasses, used to open booster packs and select cards from the Wonder Pick feature.

Four unique Happy Meal box designs showcase popular dragon-type Pokémon like Charizard, Rayquaza, Roaring Moon, and Dragonite alongside Pikachu. These limited-time offers are available at participating McDonald's locations while supplies last. Remember, the in-game rewards expire on March 31, 2025.

Pokémon TCG Pocket's Upcoming Trading Feature

On January 17, 2025, Pokémon TCG Pocket detailed its upcoming trading feature on Twitter (X). Trading will initially be limited to friends with cards of the same rarity (1-4 diamonds and 1-star). Rarer cards like Special Illustration Rare, Immersive, and Crown Rares are excluded. A consumable item, similar to Stardust in Pokémon GO, will facilitate trades.

While cards from the Genetic Apex (A1) and Mythical Island booster packs are initially tradeable, the team promises to expand the selection based on player feedback, aiming to balance ease of trading with the enjoyment of collecting. A new booster pack is also teased for release in January, though a specific date hasn't been announced.
