Game Freak shared more information about their new game, Pokémon Legends: Z-A, sparking excitement and anticipation among fans. The trailer showcased Lumiose City, inspired by Paris, with its classic European architecture, narrow streets, outdoor cafés, and a unique version of the Eiffel Tower. The city's integration of nature, with trees blending into the urban environment and moss-covered buildings, adds a unique atmosphere. The visuals are stunning, especially from above, as trainers can now climb rooftops and jump between buildings.
Lumiose City is undergoing a massive reconstruction, funded by the Quasartico Corporation, which aims to create public spaces where humans and Pokémon can coexist. However, the ominous demeanor of the company’s CEO and their secretary suggests a more complex role in the story.

A major gameplay innovation was revealed: trainers can now move around the battlefield alongside their Pokémon and dodge attacks in real time. The interface has been adapted to support this new mechanic, and the visual effects are spectacular.

The presentation confirmed the starter Pokémon as Tepig, Chikorita, and Totodile, putting an end to a year of speculation. Mega Evolutions are expected to play a key role in the gameplay, with transformation scenes that are visually stunning — the shell cracks, explodes, and radiant light bursts in all directions, revealing a powerful, enhanced version of the Pokémon.

Another reveal was AZ, the ancient king of Kalos, whose tragic story of reviving his Pokémon and being cursed with immortality and eternal loneliness adds depth to the game’s narrative. Now, he runs a hotel in Lumiose City and plays an important role in the story.

A brand-new project in the Pokémon franchise, Pokémon Champions, was announced with energetic, electrifying music and an epic battle between Mega-Evolved and Terastallized Pokémon. This multiplayer game focuses solely on battles, incorporating all the mechanics fans love, such as type advantages, abilities, and moves. It will be available on Nintendo Switch and mobile devices and will be integrated with Pokémon HOME, allowing players to transfer Pokémon from other games. With limited information available, fans are eagerly awaiting more announcements and gameplay trailers later this year.

New Pokémon are joining Pokémon Unite, including Suicune, Alolan Raichu, and Alcremie. Suicune arrives on March 1, Raichu in April, and Alcremie is marked with a "Coming Soon" status. Additionally, the developers updated the map and wild Pokémon, though these updates were mentioned briefly.
Pokémon TCG Pocket
One of the most significant announcements for Pokémon TCG Pocket is the addition of ranked matches, set to arrive in March. The day after the presentation, the game introduced the powerful Arceus ex card as part of the "Triumphant Light" booster pack. This reveal wasn’t a surprise, as it had already leaked a few days before the presentation. The set includes several new Pokémon ex, some featuring new Link abilities.
Other Announcements and News

A large portion of the presentation was dedicated to smaller events, including a Cresselia vs. Darkrai battle in Pokémon Sleep. Masters EX also received a mention, celebrating 5.5 years since launch with the addition of Primal Groudon and Primal Kyogre. A new Pokémon GO TOUR was announced, featuring Pokémon from the Unova region and lasting only two days — March 1 and 2. There were also smaller niche updates, such as a new apple-themed menu in the puzzle game Café ReMix.

A particularly noteworthy announcement was the continuation of Pokémon Concierge — a wholesome series about Haru, a workaholic who becomes a concierge at a Pokémon resort. New episodes will release in September 2025, exclusively on Netflix. The last episode aired in December 2023, and while the streaming giant had announced plans to continue production, the new season was not expected anytime soon.
That concludes Pokémon Presents 2025! The most anticipated highlight was, of course, the trailer and new details about Pokémon Legends: Z-A. However, there were plenty of other major announcements — the entire 20-minute presentation was packed with exciting updates across the franchise.
Now, all that’s left is to wait for the biggest release of the year and keep playing our favorite Pokémon games!
