Obsidian RPG Avowed Can Hit 60FPS on Xbox Series X
Obsidian's Avowed: 60 FPS on Xbox Series X Confirmed, Series S Locked at 30 FPS
Avowed, Obsidian Entertainment's highly anticipated RPG, will achieve a frame rate of up to 60 frames per second (fps) on the Xbox Series X, according to game director Carrie Patel in an interview with MinnMax. While specifics remain undisclosed, Patel confirmed the capability. The Xbox Series S version, as previously announced, will be capped at 30 fps.
Whether Avowed will offer selectable performance and graphics modes (60 fps with lower visuals vs. 30 fps with enhanced visuals) is yet to be clarified. It's possible the Series X will run at 60 fps by default.
The game's release date features a staggered rollout based on edition pricing. The premium edition, priced at $89.99, launches on February 13th. The standard edition ($69.99) follows on February 18th, a pricing strategy employed by several publishers but recently abandoned by companies such as Ubisoft.
Avowed, set within the Pillars of Eternity universe, is a first-person fantasy RPG emphasizing player choice and agency. Players will unravel narratives of war, mystery, and intrigue, shaping relationships and alliances as they journey through the game's world.
IGN's final preview lauded Avowed's engaging conversations, expansive player freedom, and overall enjoyable gameplay, describing it as "just a lot of fun."
