Nishino Appointed Sole CEO of Sony Interactive, Totoki Advances to Sony CEO
Hideaki Nishino has been appointed as the sole CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE), effective from April 1, 2025. This announcement was made in a press release that also detailed significant leadership changes within Sony. Hiroki Totoki, the current CFO of Sony, will step into the role of president and CEO of the entire Sony corporation, taking over from Kenichiro Yoshida, who has been at the helm since April 2018, succeeding Kazuo Hirai. Additionally, Lin Tao, currently serving as SVP of finance, corporate development, and strategy, will be promoted to the position of CFO.
Last year, following the retirement of former SIE CEO Jim Ryan, it was announced that Nishino and Hermen Hulst would co-lead the organization. Hulst was appointed as head of PlayStation Studios, while Nishino took charge of hardware and technology. With the recent restructuring, Nishino will now oversee the entire SIE operation in addition to leading the platform business group. Hulst will continue to head PlayStation Studios specifically.
Nishino, who joined Sony in 2000, previously held the position of SVP of the platform experience group. Expressing his enthusiasm about his new role, Nishino stated, "I am truly honored to take the helm at Sony Interactive Entertainment. Technology and creativity are two of our biggest strengths as we continue to focus on developing experiences that deliver entertainment for everyone. We will continue to grow the PlayStation community in new ways, such as IP expansion, while also delivering the best in technology innovation. I want to thank Hermen for his expertise and leadership as he continues his role as CEO, Studio Business Group. I am deeply grateful for the PlayStation community and their continued support and I am very excited for what the future holds."
