Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack Welcomes Four Retro Classics
Beat 'em Ups, Racing, Puzzles, and Dodgeball!
Prepare for a nostalgic gaming experience! Nintendo has unveiled four SNES titles from the early 90s, offering diverse gameplay: beat 'em up action, intense racing, challenging puzzles, and competitive dodgeball.
First up is the iconic crossover Battletoads/Double Dragon. This mashup pits the brawling Battletoads against the Double Dragon brothers in a fight against the Dark Queen and her Shadow Warriors. Choose from five playable characters: Billy and Jimmy Lee (Double Dragon) and Zitz, Pimple, and Rash (Battletoads).
Originally released on NES in June 1993 and ported to SNES in December of the same year, this marks a long-awaited re-release for Battletoads/Double Dragon.
Next, get ready for some dodgeball mayhem in Kunio-kun no Dodgeball da yo Zen’in Shūgō! (known as Super Dodgeball in the West). Featuring Kunio-kun from the River City series, this game challenges you to dodgeball dominance against global rivals across diverse courts, each with unique obstacles.
Initially launched for Super Famicom in August 1993.
Puzzle enthusiasts will appreciate Cosmo Gang the Puzzle. Similar to Tetris and Puyo Puyo, strategically clear lines of containers and Cosmos to score points. Three modes are available: 1P Mode (solo high score challenge), VS Mode (head-to-head competition), and 100 Stage Mode (increasingly difficult puzzles). Clear lines horizontally, and utilize descending blue orbs to remove Cosmos.
Initially an arcade title (1992), Cosmo Gang the Puzzle later appeared on Super Famicom (1993), Wii/Wii U Virtual Console, and recently on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 via the Arcade Archives series.
Finally, experience the thrill of Big Run, a racing game across challenging African landscapes, from Tripoli to West Africa's swamps. Nine intense stages test your driving skills, strategic choices (sponsor selection, team building, resource management), and ability to overcome vehicle damage.
Big Run originally debuted on Super Famicom in 1991.
This September's additions significantly enhance the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack's appeal, offering diverse gameplay experiences for fans of beat 'em ups, racing, puzzles, and dodgeball.
