Gotham Knights: A Potential Nintendo Switch 2 Launch Title?

Recent speculation suggests that Gotham Knights could be among the third-party titles launching on the highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2. This intriguing possibility stems from a game developer's resume, as highlighted by YouTuber Doctre81 on January 5, 2025.

The resume, belonging to a former QLOC employee (2018-2023), lists several notable titles including Mortal Kombat 11 and Tales of Vesperia. Crucially, it also includes Gotham Knights, specifying its development for two unreleased platforms.

While one platform could be the original Nintendo Switch (given a past ESRB rating, since removed), performance issues on the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S raise questions about its viability. The listing of a second unreleased platform strongly points towards the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2.

It's important to note that this remains unconfirmed by Warner Bros. Games or Nintendo. However, with the Nintendo Switch 2 being the only major unreleased console currently anticipated, the possibility is certainly intriguing.

Past Hints and the Switch 2's Backward Compatibility

Initially released in October 2022 for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X, Gotham Knights briefly received an ESRB rating for the original Nintendo Switch, fueling speculation of a port. However, this rating was subsequently removed. The recent report, coupled with this past ESRB listing, reignites the possibility of a Switch 2 release.

Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa's May 7, 2024 Twitter announcement promised further details on the Switch's successor "within this fiscal year" (ending March 2025). He later confirmed backward compatibility with original Switch software and Nintendo Switch Online. The question of physical cartridge compatibility remains unanswered.
