Nintendo Alarmo Japanese Release Postponed Despite Being Available Worldwide
Nintendo has delayed the Japanese retail launch of its Alarmo alarm clock due to insufficient stock. Further details on this postponement and the Alarmo's future are below.
Japanese Alarmo General Sale Delayed
Supply Unable to Meet Demand
Nintendo Japan announced on its website that the general sale of the Alarmo alarm clock has been postponed indefinitely. The February 2025 launch has been pushed back due to production and inventory challenges. Currently, there's no indication of whether this will affect other regions, where a public launch is planned for March 2025.
In response, Nintendo is implementing a pre-order system exclusively for Japanese Nintendo Switch Online subscribers. Pre-orders are scheduled to begin in mid-December, with shipments commencing in early February 2025. The exact pre-order start date will be announced separately.
Nintendo's Interactive Alarm Clock
Launched globally in October, the Alarmo is a gaming-themed alarm clock featuring music from popular Nintendo franchises like Super Mario, The Legend of Zelda, Pikmin, Splatoon, and RingFit Adventure, with more soundtracks to be added via future updates.
Initial sales, both online and in physical Nintendo stores worldwide (including Japan and New York), were unexpectedly high. This led Nintendo to halt online orders and transition to a lottery system. The alarm clock quickly sold out completely at many locations.
Check back for updates on pre-orders and the rescheduled general sale.
