The Witcher: A New Animated Adventure
A Coastal Conflict on the Continent
Netflix Tudum, the official Netflix news source, announced The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep, debuting February 11, 2025. This animated film adapts Andrzej Sapkowski's short story, "A Little Sacrifice," from Sword of Destiny.
The story unfolds in a coastal village, where a centuries-old conflict between humans and merfolk compels a kingdom to enlist Geralt's services. This time, Geralt faces a unique challenge, trading typical monsters for a battle against the mythical merpeople.
Returning to voice Geralt is Doug Cockle. Joey Batey and Anya Chalotra reprise their roles as Jaskier and Yennefer, respectively. Christina Wren (Will Trent) joins the cast as the new character, Essi Daven.
Andrzej Sapkowski acts as a creative consultant, with Mike Ostrowski and Rae Benjamin (writers for the live-action series) penning the script. Kang Hei Chul, storyboard artist for The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf, directs the film.
A Story Within Season 1
The film's timeline fits neatly between episodes 5 and 6 of the first season of the live-action series. Following Geralt and Yennefer's reunion in Rinde after the Djinn incident, Geralt is hired to address a monstrous threat near the coast.
The coastal setting suggests a location between Redania and Temeria. Considering the original short story, the film may be set in Bremervoord City in Temeria, ruled by Duke Agloval. However, the extent to which the film adheres to the source material remains to be seen.
