Monster Hunter Wilds Hits 8 Million Sales in Just 3 Days, Sets Capcom Record
Monster Hunter Wilds has achieved a remarkable feat by selling over eight million units within just three days of its release, making it the fastest-selling game in Capcom's history. This impressive launch surpasses the initial shipment numbers of its predecessors, with Monster Hunter World shipping five million copies in 2018 and Monster Hunter Rise shipping four million in 2021.
The success of Monster Hunter Wilds is further evidenced by its peak of over one million concurrent players on Steam during its opening weekend, surpassing Cyberpunk 2077 to become the seventh most-played game ever on the platform. Additionally, the game's popularity contributed to Steam reaching a record-breaking 40 million concurrent players for the first time.
In our review of Monster Hunter Wilds, we noted that the game "continues to smooth off the rougher corners of the series in smart ways, making for some extremely fun fights but also lacking any real challenge."
The Monster Hunter series, which began in 2004 on PlayStation 2, has now exceeded 108 million units sold as of December 31, 2024, according to Capcom.
