The Best ‘Marvel Snap’ Meta Decks – September 2024 Edition
TouchArcade Rating:
Let's explore the Marvel Snap meta (Free) as a new month and season begin. Last month saw a relatively balanced game state, but new cards always shake things up. Remember, today's top deck might be obsolete tomorrow! These suggestions offer a snapshot of the current meta, but they aren't the only strategy.
These decks assume you have a complete card collection. I'll present five top-tier decks and a couple of more accessible, fun alternatives.
The Young Avengers cards haven't revolutionized the game, although Kate Bishop remains strong and Marvel Boy impacts 1-cost decks. However, the new Amazing Spider-Man and the "Activate" ability are game-changers, promising significant shifts next month.
Kazar and Gilgamesh Synergy
Cards: Ant-Man, Nebula, Squirrel Girl, Dazzler, Kate Bishop, Marvel Boy, Caeira, Shanna, Kazar, Blue Marvel, Gilgamesh, Mockingbird
Surprisingly, a Kazoo deck is now a top contender thanks to the Young Avengers. The core strategy remains the same: deploy low-cost cards and buff them with Kazar and Blue Marvel. Marvel Boy adds extra buffs, while Gilgamesh benefits greatly from this strategy. Kate Bishop provides additional utility, and Mockingbird offers a powerful late-game play. A strong and adaptable deck, but its long-term viability remains to be seen.
Silver Surfer Remains Dominant, Version 2.0
Cards: Nova, Forge, Cassandra Nova, Brood, Silver Surfer, Killmonger, Hope Summers, Nocturne, Sebastian Shaw, Copycat, Absorbing Man, Gwenpool
Silver Surfer decks persist, adapted for recent balance changes and new cards. The classic Nova/Killmonger combo boosts early plays. Forge enhances Brood's cloning power. Gwenpool buffs cards in hand, Shaw benefits from buffs, Hope provides extra energy, Cassandra Nova drains opponent's power, and the Surfer/Absorbing Man combo finishes strong. Copycat replaces Red Guardian as a versatile tool.
Spectrum and Man-Thing's Ongoing Power
Cards: Wasp, Ant-Man, Howard the Duck, Armor, US Agent, Lizard, Captain America, Cosmo, Luke Cage, Ms. Marvel, Man-Thing, Spectrum
The Ongoing archetype also thrives. Cards with Ongoing abilities receive a final-turn boost from Spectrum. The Luke Cage/Man-Thing synergy is potent, with Luke protecting against US Agent. This deck is relatively straightforward to play, and Cosmo's utility is likely to increase.
Discard Dracula Deck
Cards: Blade, Morbius, The Collector, Swarm, Colleen Wing, Moon Knight, Corvus Glaive, Lady Sif, Dracula, Proxima Midnight, MODOK, Apocalypse
A classic Apocalypse-style Discard deck, now featuring the buffed Moon Knight. Morbius and Dracula are the key cards, aiming for a final-turn Apocalypse play, followed by Dracula's consumption for a massive power boost. The Collector can also be unexpectedly effective with sufficient Swarm plays.
The Unwavering Destroy Deck
Cards: Deadpool, Niko Minoru, X-23, Carnage, Wolverine, Killmonger, Deathlok, Attuma, Nimrod, Knull, Death
The Destroy deck remains strong, with Attuma's buff making him a valuable addition. Focus on destroying Deadpool and Wolverine, gain extra energy with X-23, and finish with Nimrod or Knull. The absence of Arnim Zola reflects the increasing prevalence of counter-measures.
Here are a couple of fun, more accessible decks:
Darkhawk's Return
Cards: The Hood, Spider-Ham, Korg, Niko Minoru, Cassandra Nova, Moon Knight, Rockslide, Viper, Proxima Midnight, Darkhawk, Blackbolt, Stature
This deck utilizes Darkhawk's strengths, combining him with Korg and Rockslide to populate the opponent's deck. It also includes cards that trigger discarding and reduce Stature's cost.
Budget-Friendly Kazar Deck
Cards: Ant-Man, Elektra, Ice Man, Nightcrawler, Armor, Mister Fantastic, Cosmo, Kazar, Namor, Blue Marvel, Klaw, Onslaught
A more beginner-friendly version of the Kazar deck. It teaches the core combo mechanics, albeit with slightly less consistent wins. The Kazar/Blue Marvel synergy remains, topped off with Onslaught.
This month's meta is dynamic. The "Activate" ability and Symbiote Spider-Man will significantly impact future decks. The return of classic decks is interesting, but likely temporary. Happy Snapping!
