Unlocking Napoleon Bonaparte in Civilization 7: A Guide to Both Personas

Napoleon Bonaparte, a staple of the Civilization franchise, returns in Civilization 7 (Civ 7), but unlocking him requires a few extra steps depending on the persona you desire. This guide details how to obtain both the Emperor and Revolutionary personas.

How to Unlock Napoleon: Emperor Persona

To unlock Napoleon's Emperor Persona, you need a 2K account. Follow these simple steps:

  1. Visit portal.2k.com. Log in to your existing account or create a new one.
  2. Link your 2K account to your gaming platform via Connections -> Account Overview.

That's it! The Emperor Napoleon excels in commerce and military strength, boasting the unique ability "Empereur des Francais." This ability grants a unique sanction ("Continental System"), reducing the trade route limit of a targeted leader by 1, imposing a significant relationship penalty, and increasing the cost of rejecting the sanction. It also provides +8 gold per age for each unfriendly or hostile leader. Finally, it allows free rejection of Endeavors.

His agenda, "Napoleonic Code," favors players with the smallest standing army and dislikes those with the largest standing navy.

How to Unlock Napoleon: Revolutionary Persona

Prefer the Revolutionary Napoleon? This persona is unlocked by having previously played Civilization 6.

  1. Follow the steps above to link your 2K account to Civ 7.
  2. Ensure your Civ 6 game is also linked to your 2K account.

Launching Civ 7 after completing these steps will unlock the Revolutionary Napoleon. Note that you don't need to have played Civ 6 on the same platform as Civ 7.

The Revolutionary Napoleon is a cultural/militaristic leader with the "La Grande Armee" ability. This ability grants +1 movement to all land units and provides culture equal to 50% of an enemy unit's combat strength upon its defeat.

His agenda, "Culture from Conquest," disfavors leaders with many alliances but rewards players with the highest culture per turn.

That's how to acquire both Napoleon personas in Civilization 7!
