The King of Fighters ALLSTAR is officially ending service

The popular mobile beat 'em up ARPG, King of Fighters ALLSTAR, will be shutting down on October 30th, 2024. This announcement, made via Netmarble's official forums, comes as a surprise given the game's six-year run and numerous high-profile collaborations.
In-app purchases have already been disabled. According to a developer statement, a contributing factor to the closure appears to be the depletion of characters from the King of Fighters franchise suitable for adaptation into the game. While likely not the sole reason, this offers some insight into the decision.

This closure unfortunately continues a trend of long-running mobile live-service games ending service. It underscores the challenges of maintaining these titles, highlighting that even in the thriving mobile gaming market, financial sustainability remains a significant hurdle.
