GTA 6: Fall 2025 Release Date More Likely
Take-Two Interactive, the parent company of Grand Theft Auto (GTA) 6, remains confident that the highly anticipated game will hit the shelves in Fall 2025. Dive into the details about GTA 6's release window and the impressive performance of other Take-Two Interactive titles.
Take-Two Interactive Poised for a Stellar Year
GTA 6 Release Window Confirmed for Fall 2025
During the Q3 Earnings Conference Call on February 7, 2025, Take-Two Interactive's CEO, Strauss Zelnick, reaffirmed the Fall 2025 release window for GTA 6. While expressing confidence, Zelnick acknowledged the inherent risks in game development, stating, "Look, there's always a risk of slippage and I think as soon as you say words like absolutely, you jinx things." Despite this, he remains optimistic, saying, "We feel really good about it." Zelnick emphasized Rockstar's pursuit of perfection and the company's cautious approach to success, noting, "I never claim success before it occurs. I'm fond of saying arrogance is the enemy of continued success, so we're all running scared and looking over our shoulders and we know that the competition is not asleep. Our whole organization is super excited."
Take-Two Interactive's 2025 Game Lineup
Zelnick highlighted the promising year ahead for Take-Two Interactive, with a robust lineup of game releases. "Looking ahead, this calendar year is shaping up to be one of the strongest ever for Take-Two," he said. Key releases include "Sid Meier’s Civilization VII," which launched in Early Access and is set for an official release on February 11th, "Mafia: The Old Country" in the Summer, "Grand Theft Auto VI" in the Fall, and "Borderlands 4" before the year ends. Zelnick expressed high optimism about these titles, stating, "We are exceedingly optimistic about the commercial potential of our titles and believe that they will have a transformative effect on our business – and our industry – over the long term." The company also anticipates record levels of Net Bookings in Fiscal 2026 and 2027.
GTA 5's Continued Success
The GTA franchise remains a powerhouse for Take-Two Interactive, with GTA 5 selling over 210 million units worldwide. GTA Online's holiday update, "Agents of Sabotage," contributed to a stellar quarter, while GTA+, the membership program for GTA Online, saw a 10% year-to-year growth. Other titles from Take-Two also performed well, with "NBA 2K25" selling over 7 million units and showing increased player engagement, including a 30% rise in Recurrent Consumer Spending, nearly 20% increase in Daily Active Users, and a 10% increase in Monthly Active Users. "Red Dead Redemption 2" continues to expand its audience, selling over 70 million units, with "Red Dead Online" maintaining high player engagement, especially with the recent Halloween pass update, reaching a peak of 99,993 concurrent players on Steam.
GTA 5 Actor Steven Ogg on His Character Trevor
Rumors have circulated that Steven Ogg, the actor behind GTA 5's Trevor, dislikes being associated with the character. However, Ogg clarified these rumors during an interview on the Inside You podcast. He explained that he doesn't mind the character but finds it odd when fans call him by his character's name, saying, "When people call you by your character name, it's kinda weird because I kinda get it, but I'm also like meh." Ogg praised Trevor, calling him "a great character" and "awesome," and mentioned his continued friendship with fellow GTA 5 actors Shawn Fonteno (Franklin) and Ned Luke (Michael), noting they recently attended a Comic Con together. In a previous interview with Screen Rant, Ogg suggested a cameo for Trevor in GTA 6, where the character could be killed off early in the game, though he confirmed he has not recorded any lines for GTA 6 and is unaware of Trevor's potential return.
GTA 6 is slated for a Fall 2025 release, though no specific date has been announced. Stay updated with the latest news on our Grand Theft Auto 6 page.
