Xbox's Multi-Platform Push Expands: Halo and Flight Simulator Rumored for PS5 and Switch 2

Reports from reputable industry insiders suggest a significant expansion of Microsoft's multi-platform strategy, potentially bringing major franchises like Halo and Microsoft Flight Simulator to PlayStation 5 and the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2.

A recent report by NateTheHate claims that Halo: The Master Chief Collection, the six-game compilation, is slated for release on both PS5 and Switch 2 sometime in 2025. This follows Microsoft's February 2024 initiative to broaden the availability of its first-party titles beyond Xbox consoles. Previous titles released on multiple platforms include Pentiment, Hi-Fi Rush, Grounded, Sea of Thieves, and As Dusk Falls (though not developed by a Microsoft subsidiary, it was published by Xbox Game Studios and enjoyed an exclusive period). Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 also joined the multi-platform lineup in October 2024, with Indiana Jones and the Great Circle expected on PS5 in Spring 2025.

NateTheHate further indicated that Microsoft Flight Simulator, likely referring to the recently released MFS 2024, is also being considered for a PS5 and Switch 2 launch in 2025.

This expansion is supported by another insider, Jez Corden, who tweeted that "way more" Xbox games will be making their way to PS5 and Switch 2. Corden has consistently voiced his belief that the era of exclusive Xbox titles is ending.

The future multi-platform releases are further solidified by Microsoft's ten-year agreement to bring Call of Duty to Nintendo consoles. The delay in Switch releases is likely due to the anticipation of the more powerful Switch 2, better equipped to handle modern, graphically demanding titles.
