New Elden Ring Update Makes the DLC Easier
Elden Ring's Shadow of the Erdtree DLC receives a balancing update, making it easier for players. While praised, the DLC's difficulty proved too challenging for some, prompting complaints and even review bombing. In response, FromSoftware released update 1.12.2.
This update significantly buffs the early stages of the DLC. The effectiveness of Shadow Realm Blessings (like Scadutree Fragments and Revered Spirit Ashes) has been increased, particularly in the first half of their enhancement levels. The final enhancement level also received a slight boost in attack and damage negation.
Interestingly, Bandai Namco had to remind players to utilize Scadutree Fragments, a new collectible enhancing damage and defense, as many weren't using them effectively. With the update, these fragments provide an even more substantial advantage, potentially easing encounters like the Divine Beast Dancing Lion boss and the final battle.
The patch also addresses a PC-specific bug where ray tracing automatically activates when loading saves from older versions, causing framerate issues. Players experiencing this are advised to manually disable ray tracing. Future updates are planned to include further balance adjustments and bug fixes.
Elden Ring Update 1.12.2 Patch Notes Summary:
- Shadow Realm Blessing Adjustments: Increased attack and damage negation, especially in the early enhancement levels. Final level also slightly buffed.
- Ray Tracing Bug Fix (PC): Resolved automatic ray tracing activation when loading older saves. Players should manually check and disable if necessary.
- Future Updates Planned: Further balance tweaks and bug fixes are forthcoming.
