Elden Ring Player Mounts Daily Crusade for Nightreign Release
An Elden Ring player's unique challenge: Conquering Messmer the Impaler daily until Elden Ring: Nightreign launches. This dedicated gamer, chickensandwich420, is documenting his incredible feat on YouTube.
A Daily Grind: No Hits, New Weapons, Same Boss
Instead of passively awaiting Nightreign's release, chickensandwich420 devised a demanding self-challenge: defeating Messmer the Impaler each day on NG+7, employing a different weapon each time and achieving a flawless, no-hit victory. This undertaking began December 16th, 2024. His initial plan involved tackling various FromSoftware bosses, but his university studies limited his time.
Messmer, the notoriously challenging antagonist from Elden Ring's Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, presents a significant hurdle. Players commonly report needing 30 to over 150 attempts to defeat him, even with optimal equipment. chickensandwich420's commitment is truly remarkable.
A June deadline looms. If Nightreign doesn't release by then, chickensandwich420 will shift his focus to other games. This ambitious goal translates to over 160 days of battling Messmer. At the time of writing, he's reached day 23.
Elden Ring: Nightreign, a standalone three-player co-op adventure set within the Elden Ring universe, was announced at The Game Awards 2024, with a projected 2025 release. However, FromSoftware's development timelines are often unpredictable. Only time will reveal whether chickensandwich420's dedication will be rewarded with Nightreign's timely arrival, or if a delayed launch will bring an end to his epic Messmer marathon.
