The highly anticipated 2024 Dungeons & Dragons Monster Manual is almost here! This final core rulebook in the D&D 2024 revamp, launching February 18th (February 4th for Master Tier D&D Beyond subscribers), boasts over 500 monsters.

This comprehensive guide features:

  • A Beastly Roster: More than 500 stat blocks, including 85 entirely new creatures, 40 humanoid NPCs, and exciting variations on classic monsters like the primeval owlbear and the vampire umbral lord with its nightbringer minions. High-level encounters are also significantly enhanced, with streamlined attacks, revamped Legendary Actions, and fearsome bosses such as the CR 21 arch-hag and the CR 22 elemental cataclysm.

  • Streamlined Stat Blocks: Improved stat blocks now include habitat, treasure, and gear information for increased usability.

  • Organized for Easy Access: Convenient tables categorize monsters by habitat, creature type, and Challenge Rating (CR), providing DMs with all the tools needed for dynamic encounters within a single volume.

  • DM-Friendly Guidance: New sections, "How to Use a Monster" and "Running a Monster," provide clear instructions and practical advice for utilizing the monsters effectively, catering to DMs of all experience levels.

The Monster Manual also provides crucial in-game context. Each monster entry now details its habitat and potential treasure drops, while also listing the gear used, allowing players to potentially acquire superior equipment from defeated foes. Unlike its predecessor, the 2014 Dungeon Master's Guide, custom creature creation tools are absent from this edition. However, the full contents will be available very soon, allowing players to quickly assess its features. The digital release on D&D Beyond offers early access for subscribers, unveiling the complete book's contents within the coming weeks.
